We could be spectacular.

Dress - H! By Henry Holland
Cardigan - F+F
Boots - Matalan
Bag - Aldo

The eternal struggle continues of trying to take decent outfit photos inside only using household lamps and editing. I can't wait until it gets darker later in the evenings instead of 3pm when it's raining. I've been on the hunt for a tartan dress for awhile but when i find any there are always sold out in my size. This dress was another recent sale find that i had my eye on for a while. It is probably more on the checkered side than tartan but for now it fills the void. It's a loose fit smock and is very light but that just means I can wear it in summer too. The bag was a Christmas present and thought I should include as it is my everyday bag. It's got so much room inside and lots of compartments.

How amazing is this necklace?! I love Disney's Up! I even have a toy Dug :) He's a talking retriever how could I not love him. Back in October I went to Belfast for the weekend to see one my favourite bands The Answer. I've been following to various cities since 2006. I'm seeing them again in Edinburgh next week on their new tour. I knew that I had to go to the St George's Market on the Sunday to get one of Claire's amazing cupcakes that I see all over my Instagram each week. It was the first time I've ever met anyone from a blog that I read. I was nervous and when get even more shy but she is very lovely and friendly. The cupcake I had was amazing! I didn't get a box (or five) only because I had too much to carry already and I knew I would be bored on my travels back home later that day and gobble them all. Anyway, when looking up what else was at the market I found HearHoofbeatsThinkZebras and when I saw this necklace I HAD to have one! I also got a grape soda badge necklace too.

We're Passing Ships In The Night

Jumper - Monsoon
Dress - Topshop
Boots - Matalan

This outfit is somewhat very delayed as this is what I wore when I had a rare day off between Christmas and New Year. I wore this to the cinema to see The Hobbit, knowing that it would be a long film and that I am always cold in the cinema I went for comfy and warm. I still ended up having my wool coat wrapped round me! The jumper is lovely and thick so does normally keep me warm enough. I like the gems round the neckline as it reminds me of that Topshop Jumper everyone seems to have and love but mine was alot cheaper after a discount, pretty sure it was under £15!

I have always loved this style of boots but never managed to find the pair that was just right for me. Always too pointy, too high or simply way too expensive. I found these in Matalan before Christmas and my mum bought them to give to me on the day, which is pretty much common practice now. I haven't walked very far in these boots yet but so far they seem pretty comfy. I didn't think that these boots went with the purple dress when I first put it together but I wanted to wear the boots as it was my first chance to, but I don't think that the colours clash too much.

A red, red rose

You may or may not know that Ayr is the birth place of the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns so some of the local tourist attracts include, the Robert Burns Cottage, the Robert Burns Experience, and the Brig O' Doon. I think that the official names of each of these has changed several times but they are some of the popular tourist spots. A few weeks ago my mum, boyfriend and gran went to check out a farmers and craft fair at the Burns Experience and made it into a day out as the fair was about six tables at the entrance although they were nice things to look at and purchases were made I thought there would be more. The farmer's market was the next day desipite being advertised as the Saturday. It was such a hot day even though the sun still flickered behind the odd cloud. We had lunch outside and took a walk round the monument gardens and over the Brig O' Doon.

 Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - Rocket Dog via TK Maxx
Hat - Matalan
Sunglasses & Bag - Accessorize

At the start of summer I didn't have a nice little summer dress that I could just chuck on during warm days that was long enough to wear without tights. This little floral print dress was put start in the shopping basket when I found it along with the perfect denim skater skirt that I had been hunting for. The shoes where a find in TK Maxx, the yellow and white stripes (hard to see in the photo) seemed like a good summery combo. Although they are flat the insole is cushioned so it has molded to make my high arches comfortable. My next shoe mission is to find some nice sandals that aren't totally flat or heels. Why are so many sandals made totally flat?

Where have you been on summer days out?

Purples and Berrys

It is a rare occasion for me to have a special occasion that is rare enough to be an excuse to buy an nice new dress. I'm not saying I don't buy dresses without there being an occasion but normally I only buy things when hunting through those sale rails. It is nice to have an event to go to that means you can look for a dress with to wear to it. It is my boyfriend's graduation at the end of the month and seeing as I never got anything new to wear to mine ( would have been pointless being hidden under a big shapeless gown), I am using his as an excuse to buy something that's not in the sale rale. I am looking for something that is smart looking but not over the top.

I've had my eye on this Oasis dress since it first came into store. I just love the colour, it's a much stronger purple in real life, the silk collar and the lace. I know I would be able to wear it daytime or a night out too. The main reason it's not been snapped up is due to it's price tag of £55, which is more than I've ever paid for a dress and is quite out of my price range just now. Another reason it that Oasis do not seem to take into consideration us 'busty' ladies and their dresses fit nice everywhere else except across the chest, which often looks like the material is going to burst open. I might just have to try it on to make me stop wanting it!

This ASOS Dress I have also had my eye on for some time hoping it will be reduced, but seeing how popular it seems to be then I will be waiting a while. I've never actually bought a dress from ASOS but I've always read good things about them. This dress ticks all my boxes, lace, peter pan collar, and the colour. At £35, it still more than I normally pay for dresses but then again I don't normally pay much more than a £15 for dresses as I always get them on sale. This would be something that could be worn for day or night just by wearing different things with it.

I have seen different versions of sheer panel dresses but normally they have cut out at the side as well as the front which for me is just too much. I was having a browse on the Matalan site, which can have some really surprisingly nice things, which has previously made me want a dress so much I just had to have it at full price (it was only £16). I'm getting away from the point, you should have a look on their site or in store ever so often. I love the colour of this dress and the subtle gold studs on the shoulders. I would definitely wear a top under or get a cheap one to sew on as a modesty panel as with being 'busty' it would be far too much on show! I think that this dress is different from other dresses I have. At a reasonable £22 it wins in the most affordable category.

On a recent visit to Matalan I found this sparkly velvet version of the berry dress. It reminded me of a party dress I had when I was younger, the black velvet and gold sparkle, not the mesh panel! It does not seem to photograph very well and is more impressive in person. As I already know what shoes I want to wear to the graduation, they are black brogue heels and have multicoloured glitter panels so this velvet number would have been overboard on sparkle.

Currently lusting..

1) Purple Peter Pan Ponte Dress - Matalan. 2) MARGE Black Leather Mary Janes - Topshop. 3) Black Heart Back Skater Dress - Dorothy Perkins. 4) Nails In Razzmatazz - Topshop. 5) Dark Red Twist Knit Heart Jumper - New Look.
(click on the image to get a bigger image or click the links to view items, still trying to get to grips with layouts and sizings)

This is a very small selection of things that I am currently lusting after, my list is always rather long. The heart theme is kind of by accident. I am a sucker for things with hearts on them. It is also very rare that I am lusting after things in Topshop that are not ridiculous prices and in my size.

1. I originally was after the black version with a cream collar but then I saw this purple one on the website and it is just perfect for me. Purple is my favourite colour and I do love peter pan collars. It is a very reasonable £14 but due to being a poor jobless graduate I will have to wait until it's in the sale or steal my mum's Matalan voucher!

2. I did love those t-bar shoes that a lot of bloggers seemed to have and did hope to spy some in the sale but I never saw any, probably sold out due to their popularity. These are also very cute and unlike many things in Topshop I would pay the £35 for these (if I had £35 that is) as they have a think sole and seem like they would last. I will just have to try them on in store.

3. The heart back dress has been about for awhile and there has been some beautiful ones around but they never went up to my size or cost a fortune to ship over from America on top of an already large price tag. For this style £36 is reasonable as I have seen much more being charged for them. I have got this bookmarked so I can keep checking for it going into the sale has DP often frequently update their sales.

4. This nail polish does not look very impressive in this photo, but it is dazzling in store and brighter purples and blues in the glitter. I might treat myself to this on my next day trip up to Glasgow as my local store is tiny and doesn't have a make up stand.I don't even have anything from the Topshop make-up range yet.

5. I am aware that jumpers with giant hearts are not a new thing. I was lusting after a Red Herring number last year but I think I tried it on and was very much underwhelmed. I love that it is a much more subtle design than other I have seen as the twisting between black and dark red doesn't make the black heart in your face. It would be a nice addition to both cream and black outfits.
