Black hearts

 Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Tights - M&S
Shoes - Urban Outfitters
Necklace - Market stall

I didn't really need another striped dress (or a dress at all) but when it was only £10 and I know that these skater dresses are so easy to wear. I remember seeing very similar tights last year in h&m but one size tights are not one size if you have shapely thighs. When I saw these on the M&S site, who I think do very good patterned tights, I waited for them to be in my local store but they never arrive. One day I discovered they were on sale for £1! Yes ONE WHOLE POUND, I ordered 3 or 4 pairs and then the polka dot version. I still think I should have got more! The necklace was bought at a market in the West End of Glasgow called 'Granny Would Be Proud', a place I wish I could go to so much  more often but sadly this was my first visit since March last year. I got this necklace and 3 pairs of earrings. I wish I got this amazing Alice In wonderland printed table, the only reason I didn't was because it wouldn't have been very practical to carry back on the subway, through the city centre and on the train home. I thought it would be online but it isn't. Not that I have any need for a table or anywhere to put it!

This week I became obsessed with this song. When I heard that The Darkness were doing a tour to celebrate ten years since Permission To Land (meaning I bought this album when I was 13!) was released I was excited but then the ticket prices put me off so I waited. The other day they were sold out and naturally I had to have them! They were only sold out on ticketmaster and got them through the band's own site can't believe I didn't think to check there. They were the first proper gig I went to, they played with Ash, when I was 14! Say what you want about them but the reality is that they really are all about a good laugh and some riffs.

A red, red rose

You may or may not know that Ayr is the birth place of the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns so some of the local tourist attracts include, the Robert Burns Cottage, the Robert Burns Experience, and the Brig O' Doon. I think that the official names of each of these has changed several times but they are some of the popular tourist spots. A few weeks ago my mum, boyfriend and gran went to check out a farmers and craft fair at the Burns Experience and made it into a day out as the fair was about six tables at the entrance although they were nice things to look at and purchases were made I thought there would be more. The farmer's market was the next day desipite being advertised as the Saturday. It was such a hot day even though the sun still flickered behind the odd cloud. We had lunch outside and took a walk round the monument gardens and over the Brig O' Doon.

 Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - Rocket Dog via TK Maxx
Hat - Matalan
Sunglasses & Bag - Accessorize

At the start of summer I didn't have a nice little summer dress that I could just chuck on during warm days that was long enough to wear without tights. This little floral print dress was put start in the shopping basket when I found it along with the perfect denim skater skirt that I had been hunting for. The shoes where a find in TK Maxx, the yellow and white stripes (hard to see in the photo) seemed like a good summery combo. Although they are flat the insole is cushioned so it has molded to make my high arches comfortable. My next shoe mission is to find some nice sandals that aren't totally flat or heels. Why are so many sandals made totally flat?

Where have you been on summer days out?

Home is wherever I'm with you

Top - Topshop
Skirt - River Island
Shoes - Urban Outfitters
Bag - Accessorize
Necklace - Dorothy Perkins
Bracelet - local Jewellery maker

Another long break between posts, but my laptop which was only bought back in January decided to break and had to be sent away to laptop hospital. This is from when I went to a little local event in a park for the Burns festival. I always loved the way that The Dainty Squid and Wish Wish Wish do their outside outfit shoots, so this was my very first attempt at mine. Obviously there is lighting issues but also bare in mind these were taken on my little Cannon compact.

These photos make me excited to dye my hair this colour again this weekend.  All the items I'm wearing were sale items and all but the skirt are fairly old. The skirt was purchased a few weeks before these were taken. This outfit probably proves how much of a sale fiend I am. The current summer sales have me sucked right in! Does anyone else head straight for the giant sale signs?

The sky line is burning red.

 Dress - Topshop
Leather Jacket - Red Herring
Boots - Topshop
Tights - M&S
Necklace - Accesorize

This is another outfit I wore a very long time ago now. This is what I wore to go out with my sister when she was back home for the week. It is very rare that you'll see me in sporting two Topshop items that aren't shoes or jewellery. I got both the dress and shoes in the sale awhile back in the same visit! Since I bought them I have also got the purple speckled version of this dress, a spotty skater skirt, and a daisy ring! The is proof that they have improved their sizes as I have not bought clothing from there in so long due to the sizings. I do think it still depends on the material. Does anyone else think their sizing has improved? The leather jacket I got for 18th a scary 5 years ago and is the only item of clothing I've ever had so long! I tried to add studs along the collar but only ended up putting 3 on as it is very difficult and painful for the thumbs.

Not sure if you can tell from these photos but I had dyed my hair 'Cherry Red' (well more a dark red really). I loved the colour but do wish that red didn't come out so quickly. I know using a permanent dye would last longer but from my experience it fades just as quick but also gives roots but semi permanent fades more evenly. I am too lazy and fickle for permanent hair dye. It's always the way that the colour I love most is the hardest to keep. Let's hope another box does the trick, even though the red is almost gone now over a month later. Maybe using putting some dye in conditioner is the secret but I don't know it semi permanent dye will work. There's always some kind of hair dilemma going on!

Merry Christmas!

Dress - New Look Inspire
Cardigan - F+F
Shoes - Rocket Dog via Schuh

Merry Christmas! I wore this to a trip to the pub with some friends on Christmas Eve Eve (I just have to say it that way!) for some Christmas drinks. I wanted to wear something nice as I feel like i have been living in my uniforms. I have posted about this dress before back in my first post. I love this dress as it can be dressed up or down so easily. I Wore the thick cardigan as i knew I would be cold outside with a thinner one as there was a very bitterly cold wind.

I have always had a thing for glittery shoes and I bought these back in January in the sales. They are comfy but seem to hurt my toes if I am walking down hills as My feet slide forward in them. I have a pair of glittery heeled brogues too. I know I am getting a pair of glittery boots and another pair of glittery brogues for Christmas. My glittery shoe collection is sure to grow quickly.

I am always jealous of bloggers who manage to find such good things in Primark, I never have such luck. My local store apparently gets sent the reject stock that doesn't sell in Manchester! When I'm in Glasgow the shop seems so disorganised and huge that it puts me off and I normally end up walking in one entrance and straight out the other one at the other side of the store. This pearl collar necklace caught my eye and I had to buy it at only £4. I have wanted one for so long but wasn't willing to pay £12 for a one.

I really liked my make-up so I am going to post this photo of my face. My eyeshadow is a Barry M glitter pot and it is really sheer with specks of glitter so it is a subtle sparkle but you can layer it up for a more intense look. My Lancome foudantion ran out and I had to really scrape the remainder out with a cotton bud but I am getting some more for Christmas :) I used Rimmel's gel eyeliner with my eco-tools slanted eyeliner brush and Lancome Hypnose Star mascara, which I got a free tester size with Tatler magazine afew months ago. My lipstick is the bloggersphere favourite Revlon's Cherries In The Snow.

Hope santa is good too and you all have a lovely Christmas :)

A graduation outfit

 Dress - Red Herring
Cardigan - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - Schuh

Last Friday, (November 30th), was my boyfriend Raymond's graduation and I thought I do a short post on what I wore seeing as I wrote a post about finding a new dress for it. I wasn't feeling a 100% hence the odd expressions in both photos but the last photo was the only near enough full length photo that was taken that I am. I forgot that the uni's colour was red and didn't wear the red to match, I wanted to wear my gold sparkly cardigan but with glittery shoes it felt abit too much for daytime and my red cardigan is warmer! There are more photos of him as it was a day to make him feel special. I am proud of him for sticking at uni :)

The dress was on offer and I got it for £28. I liked the gold studs on it but something wasn't right with it and after a while I decided to take the belt off and it looked so much better. The belt looks different in this photo, but in reality it is a very cheap belt and the gold colour made the dress look cheap even though it is priced at £38! The bottom half of the dress fitted nicely but the top half seemed too big and made it hang too low for me. My mum worked some magic and added acouple of stitches to stop gaping at the front and back as well as under the arms. I still decided to wear a top underneath cause it was cold and just to cover up abit more for daytime. Below is a stock photo of my shoes I wore, I forgot to take a photo of them on. I got them back in July in the Schuh sale with some money I got given for my graduation.

I probably won't be posting very often upto christmas anyway, as now I am working two jobs! One is in a shop and one as a followspot volunteer for the pantomime at the local theatre that is re-opening after being shut for nearly 5 years. Today has been my first day off for 7 days! Hope everyone managed to enjoy their weekend.

Pearl and heart buttons

 Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Cardigan - Red Herring (diy buttons)
Shoes - Red or Dead via Schuh
Necklace - Accessorize
Ring - Accessorize

This is what I wore to my 3rd interview in two weeks! I normally wear a smart black skirt/white blouse combo, but as this was a shop where I thought that would be far too formal and that I should be seem to have an interest in fashion. I seem to have made the right choice as the interviews instantly told me they loved my shoes! The next day I was offered the job! After 11 months of not having a job, endless applications, and also being out of university for 6 months then I was really over the moon to be offered the job! I am looking forward to starting and it will nice to get a routine again. As everything always happens at once, I was also emailed about what voluntary positions I was interested in at the local theatre that is opening up again! I am excited about that as it will be good experience and will be fun to do.

On to the outfit, I had the cardigan for some time but never wore it and awhile ago I found these adorable heart buttons in a store in Stirling when visiting friends. I knew that I needed to have them and put them to good use bringing some life to this cardigan, of course after returuning home I realised I didn't have enough buttons so bought the pearl ones. The ring has been a favourite for years. The necklace I bought in Bath and it reminded me of those Alice In Wonderland inspired 'drink me' bottle necklaces.

I am still on a search for reasonably priced dress to wear to my Boyfriend's graduation next friday. Everything seems to be either a size or price issue, sometimes both! I've been on all my usual sites, (Asos, Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams, Evans, New Look) and can't seem to get anywhere! I love this lace skater dress but the price tag makes me sad. I have wanted a lace skater dress forever!

Anyone got any website suggestions for inexpensive dresses? (plus size friendly ones please!)

Natural curls and peter pan collars

Jumper - F+F
Top - Dorothy Perkins
Skirt - River Island
Doc Martens - Dr. Martens

A better close up of my Docs and show the colour better.

I wore this to a meeting about doing some volunteer work. I thought this was casual and comfy look but when I met my boyfriend later on he asked what I was all dolled up for! My hair is naturally curly but never really having the time to air dry it and with me not being a very neat sleeper (i roll about constantly), then my natural curls do really get a look in anymore. I used to be able to put my hair in two plaits before bed and then in the morning have nice waves, but my hair seemed to have rebelled against me and only curls in a chunk in the middle which just looks odd so straighteners are normally used. That being said my if my had has been straightened and I plait it, there will be nice waves in the morning. Maybe it's just got too used to straighteners. This is my hair being dried with a hairdryer and twisting each section. I am a little bit smitten with this outfit and wore it again today when I went on a shopping trip to Glasgow, except I wore my black studded boots as I knew I would be trying things on and the docs take too long for me to take on and off.

Nails : Ciaté Paint Pots - Purple Sherbet
Nails Inc - Glamour Glitter
Ring - Pandora

I got both of these polishes as freebies in different magazines. I am a freebie junkie, only if I think its a good thing to get free of course. We won't talk about the times I have bought the same magazine several times to get the other products that month. The ring I bought with some money I got for my 21st birthday last year.

Satchel - LYDC
Socks - a Christmas present from last year
Tights - Debenhams

I don't know if my cupcake obsession has come through on this blog yet but to put it simply it is just that an obsession! I thought I would include some cupcake themed items I have. The satchel was found last year in shop Edinburgh that I have no idea what it was called and it isn't there anymore. I've seen this bag on sale other places but the strap has LYDC all over it and mine is just a plain brown strap which I much prefer. When I was taking these photos my labradoodle Jake was all excited for some unknown reason and we managed to catch this photo of him. He normally only takes a good photo when asleep, so thought I would share this rare gem.

After my trip to Glasgow today and going round the various markets, one being a continential market, I'm starting to feel all Christmassy. I can't wait for all the lights and trees. I think my favourite thing is all the lights everywhere, and of course the Christmas sales ;)

Are you looking forward to Christmas yet or is it still too early?

Shot Down.

 Jumper - Next
Skirt - M&Co
Doc Martens - Dr. Martens Store

Not a terribly exciting outfit post I'm afraid. The jumper was bought in the Christmas sale last year and the skirt was bought in M&Co during summer. M&Co is not usually a place I shop in but you can find something appealing every so often, much like Matalan, you just need to check out the stores and see if anything catches your eye. I had been looking for a longer demin skirt for some time and I still wanted above the knee but it was a struggle as most were bum flashers and the rest were below the knee. When I came across this in the sale it was lucky as with most things in M&Co if its nice and a bargain it goes very quickly.

The main reason of this post was to introduce my Doc Martens. I've always wanted a pair but were always so very expensive especially with the ones I always lusted after were £140 and up. One a day trip up to Glasgow in summer with my mum we were lucky to find the Dr. Martens store had a sale on! I was torn between these and a lovely black glittery pair but sadly my left foot kept hitting the front of them so after much switching between the pairs to decide I went after these, The glitter seemed to come off easily on the others and I had my doubts about them staying glittery in the rain. They were half off and I was lucky enough to be treated to them as a graduation present! I've had these since the summer although only started wearing them often recently it was just too warm for big boots like that I prefer to wear cooler things on my feet in summer. These ones are in 'blackcurrant' and will most likely be making many appearances as the cold wet weather draws into Scotland. I have heard horror stories about people trying to break in their Docs but I've not had any blisters I wouldn't have with some new shoes anyway, this pair are the softest leather they make so that has probable helped too. I have also picked up my heel saving tricks. Firstly after a quick google the way that people in the army save themselves from blisters with their heavy duty boots is by wearing pop-socks with cotton socks on top or tights and socks as I do. Secondly, a perhaps strange thing is putting solid stick deodorant on your heels, and whenever you find shoes rub. Vaseline can also work but I find it sticky and messy to use, where as the deodorant feels silky on the skin. I have seen stuff called blister stopper and such variations but that is priced at £6 and up whereas you can get a good old stick of the solid deodorant for £3 and under. Another thing with Docs is that they seem to take such a longer time to get on and off! Does anyone else find that?

Deemed appropriate for the past few days having interviews and still being rejected for jobs, Shot Down is a song from another of my all time favourite bands Nine Black Alps of their first album Everything Is. This was the first ever song I heard by them on a free Kerrang! cd about 6 years ago and have seen them around 7 times now. I've met them afew times now and every time I meet the singer Sam Forrest I go all embarassed haha! I may or may not have a thing for him ;) Do not worry the boyfriend is all aware of my fondness of guitar players and singers (....and bass players, drummers etc!) As I've just realised I can embed videos in blog posts as I am that clever here is the best quality sound for Shot Down I could find.  Hope you enjoy!

Heartsink.

Dress - New Look
Cardigan - F+F (old)
Shoes - Red or Dead @ Schuh (old)
Hair bow - Dorothy Perkins

These photos were taken at my boyfriend's flat which will probably become a frequent back drop for photos as it is a vast improvement on a brown kitchen door behind me. This is what I wore to meet some friends for a birthday lunch at a little cupcake Cafe in town the other week. It is my favourite place to eat, I will need to capture some good quality photos on my camera of the cupcakes. This cardigan I got for my birthday many years ago, (I think it might have been my 19th!) It is my favourite cardigan and will probably frequent outfit posts often. Also goes to show that supermarket clothes can last a long time! I love these brogues but they feel rather heavy on my feet (does anyone else get that?) and sometimes pinch my heel but with some heel saving tricks I have picked up they will stop being bad to my poor foot. This was also my first attempt at a bun using a bun doughnut, it is a bit too messy but then again it won't help that my hair is in dire need of a hair cut!

Today's post title is from Brighton band Blood Red Shoes - Heartsink. I do love the video as all the people in the video are fans of Blood Red Shoes, They told fans they could be in the video buy sending in photos of their unusual items given by former lovers that they wanted to wreck and it looks like it was a fun thing to do.

She's the Strawberry Girl.

Dress - Inspire at New Look
Cardigan - Dorothy Perkins

 Shoes - Asos
 Necklace (old) - Topshop
Bracelet - vintage fair
Ring (old) - Accessorize

I figured out why my photos would upload, they needed re-sized first something I always forget about, silly me! This is what I wore to a small party at a friend's house last night. The full length photo was taken at about 2am when I got home, luckily I was pretty much sober. The other photos were taken afterwards as an after thought. I should probably confess that I am a total sale addict. I very very rarely buy something full priced, unless I am totally in love with it and find it worth the price. I couldn't find the link for the dress but there are some lovely other colour options in the same style. I might even need to get the dark red lace dress when it's on sale. I bought the dress way back at the beginning of July but the other day while in New Look there were still some purple and white lace dresses lurking in the sale rail so best to have a rummage in your local store if you are after it.

I picked up the bracelet for a mere £1 at little Vintage fair in a bar/club in Glasgow. The ring is was a birthday present from one of my best friends Claire a few years ago (maybe 2008?), I still love it! I hope to get more interesting backgrounds for outfit photos than my kitchen door, especially seeing as my boyfriend has nominated himself my photographer!

Today's post title is lyrics from  Siouxsie & the Banshees' - Christine, thought it was appropriate due to being my first post and that I have strawberries on my shoes.
