The Rabbit and The Wolf

Dress - Threads
Jacket - TU
Bag - H! By Henry Holland
Boots - Topshop
Necklace - H&M

This is what I wore for a night out for a 21st birthday. I found this dress on sale rail in Debenhams naturally being drawn in by the collar. I've never heard of the brand Threads before nor can I find any information about them. It makes me wonder if it had been abandoned in the back for awhile and now the brand doesn't exist which is a real shame because the I love everything about this dress. Surprisingly I found the jacket in Sainsburys for half price, I wasn't even in the market for a new leather (well, PU leather) jacket made me realise how battered the one I've been wearing since I was 18 was. I had been on the hunt for some more casual heels when I came across these boots, again on sale, even though they don't have much of a heel the platform adds that extra bit of height I was after. Now that I think about it the only full price item was the necklace, at £3.99 it wasn't exactly breaking the bank.

Wedding

 Dress - Oasis
Headband - Crown and Glory
Shoes - Topshop
Bag - New Look

In the seven years I've been with my boyfriend Raymond, we've had never been invited to a wedding before, which is shocking considering he's one of those people that knows hundreds of people. Raymond has been friends with the groom since school so he was invited to the whole day and as he was asked to be the official wedding photographer, I only went to the reception rather than the whole day. I would've probably ended up on my own most of the day while he was busy as I only knew the groom and no one else attending. Shy girl problems.

Anyway as I was only going to the reception I wanted to get a dress that I could wear again. Before even finding a dress I decided that a wedding is the perfect excuse to crack out the an item from my crown and glory collection. For a girl who likes a good excuse to dress up the search for the dress was took a very long time. I ended up taking a chance and ordering this Oasis dress, they seem to occasionally have selected items in size 18 (wish they would just go up to an 18 in every item), it did fit but just needed some shaper tights underneath to make things smoother. I used this as the perfect excuse to go buy new shoes and a bag, who wouldn't?! The best buy were the shoes originally £46 then reduced in the sale but they had black scuffs all over them, I knew they would come off so after asking at the till I got them for £13.50 in the end. We had a lovely time even if we didn't manage to do much dancing as we left before people had enough drinks to break out the move on the dance floor.

Some Sale Finds

I love a bargain and rarely buy any clothes full price. I hadn't picked up much since the sales started back on Boxing Day but I normally find that I they get better a week or two after the everyone gets back to work/school. I went to Glasgow this week and had a successful shopping trip. I had nipped into town yesterday just for something to do on my day off and ended buying a few things in the sale. I love watching sale hauls on you tube but I really, really hate the sound of my voice recorded (Doesn't everyone?). I thought I would out an outfit together of my some recent sale finds.

 Coat - Topshop
Jumper - Dorothy Perkins
Skirt - M&S
Shoes - Clarks
Necklace - Dorothy Perkins

I had spotted this coat online and fell in love but I always need to try coats on so I kept obsessively checking the in store store until I could get to Glasgow and hunt it down. It looked more purple online but I really love the shade anyway. It was £35 reduced from around the £60. I have missed having coloured coats and jackets in my wardrobe. Also let's just ignore the fact that it is the same colour as the carpet!

I like hearts and statement necklaces. I am sure I spotted this necklace before and liked it but just hadn't seen it cheap it enough for my liking. When I saw it was down to £1.50 from £6.50 I grabbed it.

I am very much a dog person, but cats seem to more popular for cute prints. I first saw this online and did like it but didn't think it would suit me. I really like the simple design, it's not too obviously that it's even a cat until you look closer.  I found it in my size in store, it was tried on then swiftly purchased. It was £22 reduced to £10.

There's been alot of things that i've been liking from M&S the past few months. I'm sure this is a redesign of a very similar purple pattern from summer but I like it all the same. It was £29.50 down to a much more reasonable £8.99.

I got these shoes in the sale before Christmas. I had my eye on some patent burgundy brogues but they didn't fit quite right. I have too many pairs of brogues anyway. I tried these on and felt so much better, they've got built in foot cushions! They still need insoles as I always find my feet slide about inside shoes when I wear tights. I am not sure how what the full price of these but probably around the £60 mark at least. I got these at £39.99, my mum kindly went halfers for part of my Christmas.

We're Passing Ships In The Night

Jumper - Monsoon
Dress - Topshop
Boots - Matalan

This outfit is somewhat very delayed as this is what I wore when I had a rare day off between Christmas and New Year. I wore this to the cinema to see The Hobbit, knowing that it would be a long film and that I am always cold in the cinema I went for comfy and warm. I still ended up having my wool coat wrapped round me! The jumper is lovely and thick so does normally keep me warm enough. I like the gems round the neckline as it reminds me of that Topshop Jumper everyone seems to have and love but mine was alot cheaper after a discount, pretty sure it was under £15!

I have always loved this style of boots but never managed to find the pair that was just right for me. Always too pointy, too high or simply way too expensive. I found these in Matalan before Christmas and my mum bought them to give to me on the day, which is pretty much common practice now. I haven't walked very far in these boots yet but so far they seem pretty comfy. I didn't think that these boots went with the purple dress when I first put it together but I wanted to wear the boots as it was my first chance to, but I don't think that the colours clash too much.

A December Wishlist

1. I love the tartan trend that is about at the moment I have only got a shirt and a scarf at the moment but I would really love a dress. I have seen ones I like but nothing I have fell in love with. This dress from River Island changed that instantly, it the little cute collar that makes it different from others I've seen. As it has a high neckline I should really try it on in store but doesn't seem to be in stores near me yet.

2. I already have a pair of Dr Martens shoes and boots so I don't need any but this glittery red pair from Office are amazing. I don't think they will ever be mine at a painful £245. There is also a pair of black boots in a similar style and an even larger price tag of £290!

3. This wooden typewriter key necklace from Ladybird Likes has been on my list for a long time. I always like initial necklaces but find often that the ones with 'C' on them never look as nice as the other letters. This one changed my mind about that.

4. This beautiful snowflake necklace from Pandora caught my eye in a shop window and I think it looks so much better in person. I wish I hadn't already given my boyfriend my list of links for things to buy me gift list cause this would be on it. It goes without saying that it is part of the Christmas collection, if it's caught your eye too then best get it on your lists!

5. A black lace skater dress with sleeves is more difficult to find than you would think! The only reason that this New Look dress isn't mine is that is is almost completely sold out apart from a few sizes as they had a 25% off offer at the weekend. I haven't found it in a store yet but hopefully I will soon.

6. I first saw these on a sales assistant in Topshop and thought they were amazing. I am not sure if I would wear them much but if they go into sale I may need to give in. They are unusual with the holographic effect and would be just add something extra to an outfit.

7. I am in need of a new purse and in my search for one I came across this little canvas pouch from Alphabet Bags it would be good for keeping make up in instead of overloading the inbuilt pockets inside my bags.

Home is wherever I'm with you

Top - Topshop
Skirt - River Island
Shoes - Urban Outfitters
Bag - Accessorize
Necklace - Dorothy Perkins
Bracelet - local Jewellery maker

Another long break between posts, but my laptop which was only bought back in January decided to break and had to be sent away to laptop hospital. This is from when I went to a little local event in a park for the Burns festival. I always loved the way that The Dainty Squid and Wish Wish Wish do their outside outfit shoots, so this was my very first attempt at mine. Obviously there is lighting issues but also bare in mind these were taken on my little Cannon compact.

These photos make me excited to dye my hair this colour again this weekend.  All the items I'm wearing were sale items and all but the skirt are fairly old. The skirt was purchased a few weeks before these were taken. This outfit probably proves how much of a sale fiend I am. The current summer sales have me sucked right in! Does anyone else head straight for the giant sale signs?

The sky line is burning red.

 Dress - Topshop
Leather Jacket - Red Herring
Boots - Topshop
Tights - M&S
Necklace - Accesorize

This is another outfit I wore a very long time ago now. This is what I wore to go out with my sister when she was back home for the week. It is very rare that you'll see me in sporting two Topshop items that aren't shoes or jewellery. I got both the dress and shoes in the sale awhile back in the same visit! Since I bought them I have also got the purple speckled version of this dress, a spotty skater skirt, and a daisy ring! The is proof that they have improved their sizes as I have not bought clothing from there in so long due to the sizings. I do think it still depends on the material. Does anyone else think their sizing has improved? The leather jacket I got for 18th a scary 5 years ago and is the only item of clothing I've ever had so long! I tried to add studs along the collar but only ended up putting 3 on as it is very difficult and painful for the thumbs.

Not sure if you can tell from these photos but I had dyed my hair 'Cherry Red' (well more a dark red really). I loved the colour but do wish that red didn't come out so quickly. I know using a permanent dye would last longer but from my experience it fades just as quick but also gives roots but semi permanent fades more evenly. I am too lazy and fickle for permanent hair dye. It's always the way that the colour I love most is the hardest to keep. Let's hope another box does the trick, even though the red is almost gone now over a month later. Maybe using putting some dye in conditioner is the secret but I don't know it semi permanent dye will work. There's always some kind of hair dilemma going on!

Let's start a revolution with our hearts on our sleeves

 Top - Tour merch.
Cardigan - Forever 21+
Skirt - River Island

This is what I wore for a trip to Glasgow way back at the beginning of May when it was still pretty cold, to visit the newly opened Lego shop. The top was bought at a Blood Red Shoes gig last year and I was surprised that a the ladies fit actually fit me as I normally fit that ladies fit are not forgiving of busty gals. I really love the design of it as it is unusual. The cardigan was my first purchase from the new Forever 21 store in Glasgow. I really liked it the first time I saw it but didn't want to pay full price as I rarely do. I managed to grab it in the sale there was only two sizes left I got the smaller one but probably could have got away with a size down, but I do like my knitwear loose fitting.

 Necklace - Pretty Cuckoo
Boots - Topshop

I had been after some casual ankle boots for awhile but hadn't found any at a price I was will to pay. I came across these in the sale at half price and snapped them up along with a dress which I'll show in my next post. It the been a very long time since I bought anything from Topshop, never mind two sale items! Although we are now past boots weather (fingers crossed!) they will get lots of wear when the colder weather returns. We got these cupcakes just outside the Lego store and wanted to include them as they are so good.

I thought I would include my very first attempt at an outside outfit shot. I was trying to be discreet which my boyfriend does not understand the meaning of hence the awkward look while people all walk about! I would appreciate any tips anyone has on outside outfit posts for awkward and shy types.

Coat - Evans (very old)
Bag - Accesorize

I am very excited to be going to see A Plastic Rose again on Saturday so here's one of my favourite songs/videos by them. Do check them out!

The heart string and how to pull it.

Top - Topshop
Skirt - H&M
Cardigan - F+F
Boots - Deichman Shoes

I have been slow on the posts recently. I did take photos of the valentine's day cake I made but I had been working a lot recently and I just never got round to it and now it's rather later to be posting about it. This heart print skirt was something I had loved since I first saw it but I whenever I try on h&m stuff it never fits. I saw this at £3 and thought might as well try it. It's probably not the most flattering skirt I own but I like it anyway. I believe the V-panel at the front is what saves it for me, as had it been an elasticated waist all the way round it wouldn't have worked for me. The t-shirt was bought afew years ago in the sale. It is actually from the tall section but i really loved the skull and bones american style flag on it. It was very long at the back so needed taken up. It's one of my favourite t-shirts as it is loose fitting and easy to throw on. The boots are also old and were £12! They have been worn to death and now leak when it rains so I should probably give them up but I won't until I find a replacement for them.

Raymond showed up to my work with the giant balloon! I am impressed that it is still going strong nearly 3 weeks later. This photo was taken on Friday so you can see that it is only started to go abit wrinkly.

I am off to Bath on Thursday to visit my sister. I have been twice before so I have done the most obvious touristy things like the Roman Baths. Has anyone got any must see hidden gems in Bath or Bristol for that matter?

A song from home grown heroes, Sucioperro, and my favourite song off The Heart String and How to Pull It called Reflexes of the Dead. Enjoy!

Currently lusting..

1) Purple Peter Pan Ponte Dress - Matalan. 2) MARGE Black Leather Mary Janes - Topshop. 3) Black Heart Back Skater Dress - Dorothy Perkins. 4) Nails In Razzmatazz - Topshop. 5) Dark Red Twist Knit Heart Jumper - New Look.
(click on the image to get a bigger image or click the links to view items, still trying to get to grips with layouts and sizings)

This is a very small selection of things that I am currently lusting after, my list is always rather long. The heart theme is kind of by accident. I am a sucker for things with hearts on them. It is also very rare that I am lusting after things in Topshop that are not ridiculous prices and in my size.

1. I originally was after the black version with a cream collar but then I saw this purple one on the website and it is just perfect for me. Purple is my favourite colour and I do love peter pan collars. It is a very reasonable £14 but due to being a poor jobless graduate I will have to wait until it's in the sale or steal my mum's Matalan voucher!

2. I did love those t-bar shoes that a lot of bloggers seemed to have and did hope to spy some in the sale but I never saw any, probably sold out due to their popularity. These are also very cute and unlike many things in Topshop I would pay the £35 for these (if I had £35 that is) as they have a think sole and seem like they would last. I will just have to try them on in store.

3. The heart back dress has been about for awhile and there has been some beautiful ones around but they never went up to my size or cost a fortune to ship over from America on top of an already large price tag. For this style £36 is reasonable as I have seen much more being charged for them. I have got this bookmarked so I can keep checking for it going into the sale has DP often frequently update their sales.

4. This nail polish does not look very impressive in this photo, but it is dazzling in store and brighter purples and blues in the glitter. I might treat myself to this on my next day trip up to Glasgow as my local store is tiny and doesn't have a make up stand.I don't even have anything from the Topshop make-up range yet.

5. I am aware that jumpers with giant hearts are not a new thing. I was lusting after a Red Herring number last year but I think I tried it on and was very much underwhelmed. I love that it is a much more subtle design than other I have seen as the twisting between black and dark red doesn't make the black heart in your face. It would be a nice addition to both cream and black outfits.
